It's amazing how one simple phone call can turn your day around. I first heard about Epiphone producing a Metalocalypse style Explorer (2008), but then Gibson picked up the project and turned out the "Thunderhorse" Explorer last year. I knew this would be a rare item, but didn't know how rare. Only 400 were produced (Guitar Center manager & Gibson rep. confirmed) world-wide. Only 2 came to DFW, both were pre-paid, but the 2nd buyer backed out making it available. I threw my name in as an interested buyer.
One of the employees bought it out from under me, it was made available to him prior to my arrival. I was fairly upset for a couple months since I had been hunting this guitar down and making phone call after phone call, looking for one to buy. I had pretty much given up ever seeing one for myself, then earlier today, the manager from the Arlington location called and left a message on my phone. He told me that Gibson shipped one to their store and he immediately knew he had to call me and let me know about it.
It took him over 90 minutes to find my number because they updated their database that kept all customer information on it and he couldn't locate my number. It wasn't until he remembered that I bought a Gibson Ebony Explorer, that he could look for my information to call me. I couldn't believe that one had finally arrived. To make a long story short, yes, it's mine. Finally! \m/(>.<)\m/
